A disability of the hand interferes with work, sport and leisure activities and injuries to the hand through accidents are extremely common. An assessment of the severity of the injury should always take place rapidly and where necessary secondary referral to specialist orthopaedic centre to allow concentration of experience and knowledge by a Specialist Hand Surgeon.
