Biography
Mr Tony Antonios is a Consultant Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgeon specialising in upper limb surgery. His NHS practice is based in the renowned Rowley Bristow Orthopaedic Unit, Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey.
Mr Antonios completed his undergraduate training at St. George’s Hospital, University of London and his specialist orthopaedic training on the Southeast London rotation. He undertook two prestigious Upper Limb fellowships in complex upper limb reconstruction and sport surgery in two of the busiest trauma centres in the UK, King’s College Hospital and St. George’s Hospital. He also completed a stand-alone trauma fellowship in complex trauma reconstruction in general and upper limb trauma.
He has won numerous awards including the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) travelling fellowship, for which he visited the Mayo Clinic in the USA, and the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT) travelling fellowship in Switzerland. Both are world-class centres at the forefront of upper limb surgery.
He has published widely in medical literature and has led many research and quality improvement projects in all aspects of trauma and orthopaedics. Mr Antonios continues to carry out research in his sub-specialist areas.
Mr Antonios is a member of the General Medical Council, British Orthopaedic Association, British Elbow and Shoulder Society, British Society for Surgery of the Hand and a committee member of the orthopaedic section in the Royal Society of Medicine.
His area of expertise is in all aspects of upper limb surgery: shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist surgery. He treats sports injuries, wear and tear conditions and trauma injuries. This includes all keyhole procedures of the shoulder, elbow, hands and wrist, shoulder replacement surgery and complex trauma reconstructions.
Mr Antonios provides patient-centred care and a shared-decision approach to treatment. Working with a multi-disciplinary team of colleagues from radiology, nursing, physiotherapy and other allied health departments, he offers his patients a bespoke service to ensure a successful treatment outcome.
