Biography
Mr Vinay (Manvinder) Kalsi was appointed consultant adult and paediatric urological surgeon at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust in 2015, where he is the Clinical Lead for Paediatric Surgery.
He trained at Guy’s & St. Thomas' medical schools, qualifying in 1998. Having developed a specialist interest in paediatric urology, he trained at Great Ormond Street Hospital, UCLH and Evelina London Children’s Hospital as a specialist registrar. Mr. Kalsi’s expertise cover all areas of general paediatric urology including undescended testes, foreskin problems, hydroceles and hernias, hydronephrosis, vesico-uretric (VUR) relux, urinary tract infections, dysfunctional voiding, enuresis, haematuria and hypospadias.
His experience of functional urology includes three years’ tenure at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (Queen Square), treating patients with complex urological and neurological conditions. This is in addition to his experience of urodynamics, video-urodynamics and incontinence surgery.
Mr. Kalsi is proficient in all facets of stone management, including extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy and ureterorenoscopy. Additionally, he has a keen interest in minimally invasive techniques for treating benign prostatic enlargement.
Mr Kalsi remains actively engaged in ongoing research, having played a pivotal role in the licensure of botulinum toxin (Botox) injections for neurogenic bladders. He recently led on a regional prospective review on acute scrotal pain in the paediatric population for the Thames Valley and Wessex ODN.
His academic contributions encompass over 30 peer-reviewed articles and co-authorship of 10 book chapters.
Mr. Kalsi is multilingual and fluent in Punjabi, Hindi, Gujarati, Urdu, Swahili, and French.
