Mr James Singleton is an orthopaedic consultant specialising exclusively in knee problems.
He is fellowship trained in both trauma surgery and knee surgery. His practice includes knee sports injuries and soft tissue problems. He has a special interest in ligament reconstruction including multiple knee ligament injuries and revision (redo) ligament surgery as well as meniscal issues. He looks after knee cartilage injuries with cartilage repair where possible and see patients with patellofemoral (kneecap) problems and all stages of knee arthritis encompassing joint preservation options such as osteotomy as well as partial and total knee replacement surgery.
Mr Singleton was a consultant at Frimley Park Hospital where in 2017 he established his patient-centred practice with individualised care for all knee problems from sports injuries to arthritis. He retired from his NHS post as a trauma and knee surgeon in 2024 to focus exclusively on knee surgery.
Mr Singleton was a British Army officer as an orthopaedic consultant, having commissioned as a medical student and called time on his military career after 25 years in early 2024. He has published on both civilian and military trauma and has served as an orthopaedic surgeon on operational tours in Afghanistan and the Middle East.
Hi is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), the British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK), and the British Patellofemoral Society (BPFS).
Mr Singleton grew up in Buckinghamshire and moved on from Aylesbury Grammar School to University College London Medical School, graduating in 2002. He completed his orthopaedic surgical training in London and Surrey on the prestigious South West Thames rotation. This included two years full time post-doctoral research, culminating in an MD in Bioengineering from Imperial College London in 2016.
When not at work, Mr Singleton loves time at home with his wife and their two boys, coaching his eldest son’s rugby team and (having hung up his rugby boots several years ago) getting out on his road bike in the Surrey Hills and beyond, and he has completed multiple Sportive rides including RideLondon, the Fred Whitton, The Dragon Ride and the Marmotte.
