Biography
David R Gateley is among the leading Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons operating in the UK today. He studied medicine at Downing College Cambridge and King's College Hospital, London, qualifying in 1984.
He trained in General Surgery, Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery for five years before starting his career in Plastic Surgery.
As well as working at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton, Guys and St. Thomas's Hospitals, Mr Gateley gained a Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship in the US, achieving UK certification of higher surgical training in plastic surgery in 1996.
Mr Gateley was previously a Plastic Surgeon at St George's Hospital in South London, Europe's largest teaching hospital. Here, he trained the country's next generation of plastic surgeons as part of his continuing commitment to the NHS. Mr Gateley retired from the NHS in May 2016 after 32 years of service. He continues to teach and has developed links in Nepal where he visits to provide both teaching and surgery.
He established a non-surgical medical spa in Wimbledon called Nakedhealth over 12 years ago which allows him to advise his patients on the complete set of options for treatment. He offers the full range of wrinkle relaxing treatments, fillers, threads, non-surgical interventions and topical treatments at his spa and the complete range of cosmetic treatments including face lifting, eyelid surgery, cosmetic breast surgery, liposuction and abdominal surgery at New Victoria Hospital.
In addition to being a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Mr Gateley is a member of the British Association of Plastic Surgeons and British Society for Surgery of the Hand and the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
